Dr Daniel Briscoe, MD, is a distinguished ophthalmic and ophthalmic plastic surgeon recognized by Forbes as one of the “Best Doctors in Israel.” He heads the Department of Ophthalmology at Emek Medical Center in Afula, Israel. Additionally, Dr Briscoe now works with WeCare Medical Centre, providing telemedicine services for second opinion consultations and further treatments.
Dr Briscoe specializes in orbital and oncology surgery, including the removal of eyelid tumors and reconstruction, lacrimal duct surgery, correction of bulging eyes, and the correction of orbital bone fractures and trauma surgery. He graduated from the School of Medicine at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and specialized in Ophthalmology at Soroka Medical Center in Beer Sheva. His advanced training includes a specialization in Ultrasound of the Eye and Orbit at the Wilmer Eye Institute of Johns Hopkins Hospital in 1993, a fellowship in Oculoplastic Surgery at the Royal Manchester Eye Hospital in 1996-1997, and a specialization in Cataract Surgery at the same institution in 1997. He also trained in Endoscopic Facial Surgery in 2003 and 2004 under Prof. Oscar Ramirez at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
With over 25 years of clinical experience, Dr Briscoe is fluent in Hebrew and English. In 2008, he served as a Visiting Professor at the University Medical School in São Paulo, Brazil. He founded and led the Oculoplastic Department at Meir Medical Center and has held positions as an ophthalmologist and oculoplastic surgeon at Rabin Medical Center and as an ophthalmic ultrasound specialist at Mor Imaging Institute. Dr Briscoe supervises students’ dissertations and trains medical students, interns, and specialists from Israel, the Palestinian Authority, Greece, and Turkey. He is also the author and editor of numerous scientific publications, papers, and presentations.
